What You Should Know as a Parent

As a Parent,  I say “good”, well its about time! It’s the law, your child needs a bicycle helmet, what now?  Hundreds of children are killed every year, mostly with cars, and over 75% die of head injuries.  Of course there are the scraped knees and elbows and many other injuries a lot more severe, some with long term effect.  And don’t discount the anxiety the parents feel! I have personally experienced my son travelling over the handle bars.  It wasn’t very pretty, as in those days bicycle helmets weren’t even heard of. Your child can grow with the helmet. Just about all children’s bicycle helmets come with a few set of foam fitting pads in the helmet and can be removed or added to as a child grows.  They’re heads really won’t grow that fast like their shoe size.  The pads are just for a snug fit and will not affect the performance of the helmet.

Let them know it’s for their own protection and you don’t want them hurt if they have a fall.
